Core Curriculum: PSHE and British Values

We use our Sixth Form assemblies and the following PSHE lessons to inform our students about issues that affect them. This is delivered both in house and through external visitors. Areas that we cover include:

  • Relationships and positive choices led by Ralph Jordan from the Teenage Pregnancy Unit
  • Financial skills led by Barclay’s bank
  • Show racism the red card
  • Personal and British Values
  • Democracy
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Rule of Law
  • Positive Contribution

Assemblies are followed up by a lesson where students have the opportunity to look further into a topic. They are given opportunities for discussion, research and group work. This work is complimented by whole school themed events and activities. Various members of our Sixth Form also have roles on the school’s student council. These representatives are elected by their classes.
